Your first 15 minutes
Walk through the sample project and the Get started checklist after you sign up.
Every new account starts with a worked example. You can try each part of Plasmole on it before you bring your own data.
What is already in your account
When you sign up, Plasmole adds a Sample Project to your Personal workspace. It contains:
- pET28a-GFP, a plasmid with GFP cloned into pET28a for expression in E. coli.
- Clone GFP into pET28a, a notebook entry linked to that plasmid. It lists next steps drafted by Plasmole AI.
- Two small data files,
sample_growth_data.csvandsample_ic50_data.csv, for trying charts.
Setup takes a few seconds. If it fails, the checklist shows a Retry button.
Answer the welcome question
- In Welcome to Plasmole, choose At the bench or Overseeing a lab.
- Or click I'll decide later. That counts as At the bench.
Your answer only changes your first screen. It does not change what you can do.
Work through the Get started checklist
The Get started card sits in the lower right corner. Click an item to go where that step happens. Each item ticks itself when you do the real action.
- Open the pET28a-GFP example. The map, features and ORFs open in the editor.
- Ask the AI about it. Try "Where does GFP sit?" or "Which enzymes cut it just once?"
- Link a construct to its experiment. Open the entry, type
@, and pick a plasmid. - Bring in your own sequence. Import a GenBank, FASTA or SnapGene file into your Library. See Import and export sequences.
- Create or join your lab. Create a lab, or accept an invite. See Set up a lab and manage members.
Click the minus button to shrink the card to a small Get started pill. Click Don't show this again to hide it for good.
