Use version history
See earlier versions of an entry or plasmid, compare them, and restore one.
Plasmole keeps earlier versions of entries and plasmids. You can compare any version with the current one and bring it back.
Entry history
- Open the entry. Click the clock icon (Version history) in the header.
- The list shows the last 5 versions. Click one, or click See all versions.
- In Version history, open a version to see the blocks that differ from the current entry.
- Click Whole v… as it was to see the full version. Click Show only changes to go back.
- To bring it back, click Restore, then Confirm restore.
Save a checkpoint
In Version history, click Save checkpoint to mark the current state so you can return to it.
Version labels
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Before edits | Saved automatically before an editing session |
| Checkpoint | Saved by someone with Save checkpoint |
| Before unlocking | The signed state, saved before the entry was unlocked |
Plasmid history
- Open the plasmid and open the Provenance pane.
- The top row shows where the plasmid came from. Expand it to see its assembly lineage.
- Below it, versions are listed newest first.
- On a version, click Diff to see what changed, Inspect to see the snapshot, or Restore to go back to it.
- Click Save version to record the current state by hand.
Plasmid version labels
Most versions are saved automatically before an edit. The label names that edit, such as "Saved automatically before the name or description was changed". The version holds the plasmid as it was before the edit.
Imports, assemblies, manual saves, restores and applied drafts hold the result instead.
