How Plasmole is organized
Learn what workspaces, labs, projects and the Library are, and where each tool lives.
Plasmole keeps plasmids, notebook entries, files and workflows in one place.
Workspaces, labs and projects
- A workspace is the top container. You see one at a time.
- Personal is your own workspace. Only you work in it unless you share a record.
- A lab is a shared workspace. Members, roles and projects belong to the lab. See Set up a lab and manage members.
- A project sits inside a workspace. It holds plasmids, entries, files and workflows. Every new plasmid goes into a project.
To switch workspace, click the workspace name at the top of the left rail, then Switch workspace. Create workspace is at the bottom of that list. The same menu has Settings and, in a lab, Lab settings.
The left rail
The rail runs down the left edge. Hover over it to see the labels.
| Item | What it opens |
|---|---|
| New | New entry, New plasmid, New workflow, New spreadsheet, New project |
| Home | Your start screen |
| Library | Every record in the workspace, by project |
| Editor | Your open tabs, with the Tools panel beside them |
| Lab Dashboard | Tasks and work items, in Mine, Team and Projects views |
| Jobs | Long-running jobs and how many are running |
| AI Assistant | The Plasmole AI chat |
| Notifications | Comments, shares, lab changes and finished jobs |
The usage card for your plan sits at the bottom of the expanded rail.
The Library
The Library lists records by project. Filter by All, Designs, Notebooks, Files or Traces. Right-click a record to open, rename or move it. See Find and organize records in the Library.
The Tools panel
Click Editor on the rail to open the Tools panel. Tools are grouped as Open, Design, Search & Analysis, Simulation and Analysis. Type in Search tools to find one. Every tool is also in the command palette (Ctrl/Cmd+K).
The assistant
Click AI Assistant on the rail to open the chat. It works with the plasmid, entry or project you have open. It asks before most changes to your records; see Approve what the AI changes. See also Ask the assistant.
